Oklahoma State University, a Cenergistic client, has been chosen to receive the Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in recognition of the national leadership it has displayed in using green power practices and technology. The award honors the country’s leading green power users for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the nation’s voluntary green power market.
In a news release issued by the university, OSU President Burns Hagis said: “As one of the nation’s leading land-grant universities, OSU is committed to sustainability in our practices, education, research and outreach. We are nurturing a culture of respect for, and commitment to, sustainable practices and environmental stewardship with our students that will extend beyond our campuses. We are honored to receive this distinction and will continue to expand the use of green power to improve our campuses and our world.”
OSU has been an energy leader for many years. It began an energy conservation program with Cenergistic in 2007 for all five of its campuses that has achieved energy savings of more than $32 million.
“This honor bestowed upon OSU by EPA is well deserved,” said Cenergistic CEO Dr. Randy Hoff, PE. “OSU has created a model for how a major university can achieve greater control over its energy consumption and costs so that more funds can be directed to improving the campus learning experience for students.”
